Hi, I'm Avery

I’m currently looking for a tattoo apprenticeship and a shot to make my mark in the tattoo industry. Art has always been a form of healing and personal expression to me and I want to make a career out of helping others to see that same healing and expressive power of art.

My art style is an eclectic mix of fine line, illustrative, and surreal, with a dash of trash-polka mixed in. As a tattoo artist, I want to take on quirky challenges and create art that’s personal and thoughtful. I want to be the resident artist for all things literature and music, interpreting writing and sound through visuals. I also want to put my own spin on floral and nature pieces.

I’ve spent years getting tattooed by some of the most inspiring artists I know, and I’ve sought to leave each session with at least one piece of knowledge. I’ve worked with clients to commission more than 40 pairs of custom shoes. I’ve sought to hone my style and prepare myself to find a mentor and start down the path towards one day opening my own art collective.

Assorted Works

I gravitate towards surreal/abstract art, inspired by my love for artists like Salvador Dali, Rene Magritte, and Yves Tanguy, as well as a number of local tattoo artists. I also have a soft spot for implementing geometry and patterns into my work. I especially love patterns that create optical illusions. These are some assorted works.

Vans Shoe Commissions

I sell custom Vans on my website and on Etsy. Customers provide a brief for what they want, I engage in a virtual consultation, and then I tell their story on their shoes. In total, I’ve sold about 35 pairs of shoes, including outfitting a handful of weddings. The shoes give me the chance to work on a 3D canvas, work 1 on 1 with clients, and see how art handles wear. I’ve adjusted my style over the last two years to provide greater longevity in the shoes I make.

Pet Portraits

My dog is my world and I love to create pet portraits and pet memorial pieces. As with much of my other work, I like incorporating elements of geometry, and meshing black and grey with color to create my own style.

Florals

I love doing florals, and want to do some illustrative florals as a tattoo artist.  I especially love adding floral elements to more complicated pieces, as seen in many of the shoes I’ve made. As with my other work, I want my florals to often mix black and grey with color.

Susie's Shell Searching Adventure - Book Illustrations

In addition to artwork, I pursue a number of other creative avenues. One of those is writing. I wrote this book for a friend and have been illustrating and releasing each chapter alongside its illustration. I would love to be able to tattoo anything related to literature, including plenty of quotes and handwriting tattoos.

Process/Works-in-progress

I'm a big figure skating fan and happened to be watching Avatar: The Last Airbender at the time... So I drew my favorite skater, Evgenia Medvedeva, in my favorite dress of hers as a flower bender.
